Our inbox shouldn’t be our work driver

An email is an interruption. Sometimes a welcome interruption. But always an interruption. And just because an email is a priority for the sender doesn’t mean it’s necessarily a priority for us.

Our inbox shouldn’t be our work driver.

Our work driver should be a well thought-out list of tasks corresponding with people and projects that align with our values, priorities, and mission.

We can’t ignore our inbox, and we shouldn’t. We should make time to read email in batches.

But we shouldn’t let email distract from our real work driver. Our task list that aligns with our values, priorities, and mission.
