“That will never work”

Some business ideas are fundamentally flawed. Even if we can create a financial model that looks pretty, there’s no way these ideas could work in the real world because they require changing human behavior.

For example.

People aren’t going to rent a room, house or apartment from a complete stranger.

They won’t buy shoes online without trying them on.

They won’t get in a car with someone who isn’t a licensed taxi driver.

They won’t find a long term romantic relationship online.

They won’t let someone else do their grocery shopping. Because, produce!

You get the point.

If the past is any guide, we can expect to see many more successful businesses that seem unlikely to work.

Changing human behavior is hard.

But then again, it happens all the time.
